CAR is a radio broadcast that plays over store speakers.
A community of businesses in a common marketplace share the broadcast. The broadcast plays in each member business, providing shopping music, lobby music, and announcements.
Each member business submits ads and announcements to play over the network. For example, a grocery store, a hardware store, a salon, and a bank may join a network. All benefit from more exposure in the local marketplace. Shoppers in these stores hear ads for every member business, as well as background music.
The background music is customizable per location. The bank may play Classical music, the salon Jazz, and the grocery store Easy Listening. But all can hear the ads. No store is required to play ads from competitors, and may omit any ad for any reason. A business may play no ads at all, if desired.
CAR allows local businesses to compete with big corporations with large advertising budgets, through shared advertising.
Each store is assigned an internet streamed broadcast, which is received by a small device CAR installs in the store. This device is connected to existing store speakers, and that store hears its music of choice. If the internet goes down, the CAR receiver continues to play smoothly, running on a 12 hour memory card, that plays continuously until a stable internet connection is reestablished.
Up to 50 stores may join a local network. Each store's ad can play in all 50 locations, a minimum of once per day. This allows each ad to play up to 1500 times per month! Each store hears an average of one 30 second ad every 7 1/2 minutes.
CAR supports the local community, by making available school sports events and concerts, to broadcast over the network free! Local School Districts may submit announcements to play over the network. Other events of broad community interest may also be made available on the network. Each store has the option to include, or not include these special events in its individual playlist.
Many local businesses are not aware that it is illegal to play a radio in a public store. It is a license infringement, and is punishable by a hefty fine.
CAR broadcasts are licensed to play in any public location. CAR is licensed through Sound Exchange, SESAC, ASCAP, and BMI.
